X5 is a portable, small form-factor companion of Appear’s multi award winning X10/X20 platform. It delivers encoding and decoding combined in a single unit, ideal for low latency contribution applications. Available in 4 x 2 HD, 2 x 2 HD, or 1 x 1 UHD configurations, X5 supports either HEVC or AVC codecs, with SRT and Transport Stream over IP including ST2022-7 and ST2022-1 FEC flow protection. X5 can be operated as a table-top device or installed in a rackmounted configuration

The X Platform supports conversion of uncompressed video from/to SDI, ST2022-6 and ST2110 with options to perform “light” compression/ decompression using intra-codecs such as JPEG XS and JPEG2000 or full encoding/decoding using AVC or HEVC. With backplane latency of less than 1ms, universal applicability for virtually any video application is ensured.
